Microsoft Teams’ latest update increases significantly the number of participants in a call. More details below:
Microsoft is making a massive upgrade to Teams — well, kind of. The company is rolling out a new update to Microsoft Teams that increases the number of participant views by more than double.
As you may know, Teams used to only show 4 people in a call, but that’s obviously not enough. Today, Microsoft announced it’s increasing the number of participants shown in a call to 9, which should be a welcome upgrade.
Here is the thing, though: 9 people in the participant view still is not enough for a lot of users. Microsoft Teams’ main competition, Zoom, is able to show 49 participants, which means it is way behind with its 9, reports Petri.
Microsoft plans to roll out the ability to view nine participants simultaneously by the end of this month, so you may still be stuck to viewing 4 participants at once for now.
Understandably, a lot of users want the ability to be able to view more, or even all participants at once. That’s obviously not possible now, but Microsoft says it is continuing to work on expanding the number of participants that can be viewed at a time. “9 participants is just the beginning. We won’t stop till our users can see *all* participants in the meeting at the same time. Lots more innovation coming,” Rish Tandon, the CVP of Engineering for Microsoft Teams tweeted.
